Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Toni Morrison’s book Beloved is a captivating innovative portrait of a women haunted by the past.

Sethe a slave-born woman from a plantation called Sweet Home, escapes to Ohio. While she continues to be terrorized by memories of Sweet Home in her new home, she is long troubled by the cross, ruinous ghost of her baby who died nameless and whose tombstone is engraved with a single word; Beloved.

Her story doesn’t end there; while living in this torment a mysterious teenage girl arrives who goes by Beloved propelling Sethe’s heartbreaking secret to come to the surface.

Look and Feel

This remake of a cherished Pulitzer Prize winning book surpassed expectations. Allowing for the cover to shine with interesting ghost like graphics and type manipulation to simple outside elements to fully allow the book to stand on its own. The color palette of black, grey white, and red help to exhibit the evolution of emotion that the book allows for and the heartbreaking scenes hinted at with the imagery.
